Welcome
Murcia is a picturesque Moorish city nestled within the Spanish region by the same name. Tourists choose Murcia for it's quiet, relaxed attitude, it's location close to the Spanish coast, and it's proximity to Parque Natural Sierra Espuña, Parque Regional de Carrasco y El Valle, Sierra de la Pila, and Cabo Cope y Puntas de Calnegre. Murcia is also ideal for using as a base to explore the surrounding region - Cartagena, Mazarron, Lorca and Caravaca de la Cruz are all worth a visit, as other a number of the smaller towns and villages inland and along the coast.
Murcia is serviced by Murcia-San Javier Airport (Aeropuerto de Murcia-San Javier), both a military and civilian airport that is regularly visited by a number of low-cost airlines including BMI-Baby, EasyJet, Jet2.com and Ryan Air. The airport itself is still quite small though passenger numbers have increased dramatically in recent years, now reaching over one million visitors annually. Within the terminal there are four car-hire companies: Europcar, Goldcar Europa, Centauro and Solmar. It is important to note, however, that the airport is not actually located in Murcia, it is actually about fifteen kilometres south-east of the city in San Javier, a coastal town close to the Murcia-Valencia regional border. To reach Murcia from San Javier, after exiting the airport terminal look for the signs for Autopista del Mediterraneo (AP-7). You can either take the C-3319 road north-west until it hits the Autovia de Murcia (A-30) or you can stay on the AP-7 until junction 780, then taking the MU-301/F-23 which will eventually lead into Murcia via the MU-302 and MU-300.
